Ben F. Binkley Scholarship

Deadline is May 15th | The Ben F. Binkley Scholarship is derived from the church budgeting process and contributions made by concerned parishioners of HUMC. This scholarship is designed to encourage and assist members of HUMC to pursue higher education. Should there be more than one eligible student applicant, the awarding of the scholarship will be determined by an independent board of judges.

Criteria for Eligibility

Applicant must be an active member of Hilldale United Methodist Church.

Applicant must be a graduating senior from an accredited high school (or home school program licensed/approved by the relevant board of education) in Clarksville - Montgomery County and entering college in the Fall semester immediately following high school graduation.

Applicant must have minimum grade point average of 3.0 or have scored 27 or higher on the ACT exam or the equivalent on the College Boards Exam.

Applicant must submit a completed application and return it to Hilldale United Methodist Church by May 15th of the senior year.

The church has committed to funding $1,000 toward a student’s expenses for the first year of enrollment.

Steps to Follow:

Complete the application form. Completing this application form is considered a signature by the student, and confirmation that the student is attesting that he/she has been accepted at the indicated college/university.

The application must be received by HUMC by May 1 prior to the school year for which the scholarship is being sought.

For students attending a Methodist college, HUMC will submit the approved application to the General Board of Higher Education Foundation for competition for matching funds from that Foundation and the selected United Methodist college. If selected by The Foundation, the student is eligible to receive an additional $1,000 from the Foundation and $1,000 from the selected United Methodist college.

If there are no successful applicants for a given year the money in the Scholarship Fund shall be invested in an interest bearing account and rolled over to be available for the subsequent year.
